The MediaGuardian Innovation Awards
The MediaGuardian Innovation Awards are back, rewarding innovation across the media landscape.
The Awards launched last year and created an immediate impact. Judged by a high profile panel including Peter Bazalgette, Brent Hoberman and Katie Derham, the Megas provoked debate, discussion, tantrums and tabloid headlines, and ultimately a fantastic line up of winners. Channel 4, Playstation3 and the team behind the online launch of Radiohead’s “In Rainbows” were amongst the winners in 2008. Now the MediaGuardian Innovation Awards are back for 2009 – bigger, bolder and more MEGA than ever.
The deadline for entries has now passed. The shortlist will be announced on 9 February.

MediaGuardian is delighted to be organising the second year of this Awards scheme which aspires to be the pinnacle of achievement in media innovation. The finalists and winners represent those innovators in UK media who act as a catalyst for change and inspire others with their forward thinking and challenging approach.
The launch of the Megas last year proved that innovation – in all media – has never been stronger. Everyone at MediaGuardian understands the essential paradox of reporting the world of the media: that by the time the presses have rolled and the final mouse click has transmitted the latest story, the world will already have changed. The question is always how close to the cutting edge we can be. I believe that MediaGuardian is consistently ahead of the field and represents a window for our readers in to a diverse world of media innovation.
Naturally, for such an important project, we have appointed a stellar judging panel including Mark Borkowski, Brent Hoberman, John Bartle, and past winners, Andrew Mortimer from Manning Gottlieb OMD and Nancy Cruickshank from Videojug. We’re sure that this year’s judging process will be just as hard fought as last year, with debate, discussion and dialogue all thrown in to the mix.
